Why see Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre: The Nutcracker?

A Tale from the bayou

Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou was created in 1991 by Molly Buchanan and Sharon Mathew. Join Clara, the Nutcracker, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and all of your favorite characters as they dance their way through the traditional story with a special twist that sets all the action in 19th Century Louisiana!

What Is The Story?

When Clara receives a beautifully made nutcracker doll from her Parrain on Christmas Eve, little does she know the adventure that is about to begin. For upon the stroke of midnight, the doll springs to life, whisking Clara away on a journey full of daring battles with mice soldiers, a glittering trip to the realm of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the magical Land of Sweets. With plenty of Louisiana's beloved landmarks and Bayou style, this is one local Nutcracker you won't want to miss!
